Salt Crystal Energy-The difference between Persian, Polish and Himalayan salt by Cynthia Zeki, Ph.D., RMT

What is the difference between Persian salt, Polish salt and Himalayan salt crystal lamps? Only Solay Wellness www.natural-salt-lamps.com offers beautiful, fair trade lamps from 3 different countries. Besides aesthetic differences in color and the crystals texture, Solay salt lamps work in the same way, all producing healthy negative ions that have helped thousands of customers sleep better, breathe better and feel better at home or the office. But the energies each lamp gives off is different. Just like any crystal found naturally in nature, they all have their own properties and healing abilities. Here is a nice description by an energy worker recently visited us in our Skokie, IL location:

Persian Salt

This salt has a very tranquil, calm, and loving energy. It encourages relaxation and being present in the moment, allowing fears and worries to recede. It encourages acceptance, forgiveness, and love, so one’s heart and mind can be at rest. This allows for deep, peaceful and restorative sleep. This lamp is perfect for the bedroom or any place tranquility is welcomed.

The purple/violet lamp emphasizes serenity. The white lamp has an added dimension of spirituality, while the rose quartz lamp has the elements of fondness and trust.

Polish Salt

This salt crystal has a strong connection to divinity. Its energy is focused and very pure. It can help provide clarity when making difficult decisions. It encourages reflection, concentration, and confidence in one’s intuition. This lamp is at home in a sunroom, meditation or prayer room, or any quiet corner.

Himalayan Salt

This salt’s energy is joyful and revitalizing, and helps bring balance. It can encourage energy flow when one is feeling low, and reduce agitation when one is over-stimulated. It encourages play, creativity, and self-expression. This lamp works well in any room, especially in an office, playroom, or den.

Saline Solution by Time Magazine

Thursday, Mar. 27, 2008 By JENINNE LEE-ST. JOHN

Since ancient Rome, people have believed in the physical and mental healing powers of hot springs, which, in the American South and West, are still popular tourist destinations. U.S. spas promoted mud baths in the 1940s, and the '70s brought in-home saunas and hot tubs. Now comes the next step in the quest for holistic relaxation: salt caves.

Kick Back and Relax in a Salt Cave

For centuries, Eastern Europeans have sat in natural salt caves to help relieve respiratory, circulatory and skin ailments—and stress. Recently, entrepreneurs have brought man-made caves here. Here's a closer look at Galos Caves, in northwest Chicago:

Eastern Europeans have long thought that just sitting in naturally occurring salt caves could relieve allergies, asthma, eczema, hypertension, ulcers and stress. Recently, they've built simulated caves in the U.S. The Chicago area, because of its large Polish population, is the epicenter of the trend. Several spas in other parts of the country have installed salt breathing rooms. And the Florida-based Silesia Group builds salt rooms for private homes and sells portable salt caves for the backyard. "The atmosphere helps regulate your breathing, gets the stress out," says Madzia Stoklosa, whose Megi's Spa Salt Cave in Park Ridge, Ill., is constructed of 10 tons of salt from a 600-year-old mine in Wielczka, Poland.

The caves draw clients from professionals just wanting to chill out after a hard day at work to people with more serious ailments. Anna Wuszter, who has a rare bone cancer that has led to the removal of her lower jaw, has had 38 surgeries since 2006. But since sitting in Megi's for an hour at least twice a week for a year, she says, "I can sleep better. I don't have nightmares anymore. The doctors told me that the scars are healing better and faster."

On a recent afternoon, 10 people reclined in deck chairs and on blankets under salty stalactites in Galos Caves in Chicago. The recorded sound of waves filled the dimly lit room. It smelled like a seaside town. The floor is made of loose rock salt from the Dead Sea and is warmed to enhance the scent and coziness. After 45 minutes, for which they had paid $15 each, Dan Zegar, 50, and Denyse Waters, 57, didn't want to leave. Waters thought the salt air had cleared her sinuses. But Zegar's appreciation was broader: "If there are some medicinal properties to it, great. But it doesn't matter. It was so relaxing."

Salt and Pamper. NBC5 News Special Featuring Solay Wellness

Salt and Pamper Salt Caves and Salt Products Promise Relaxation, Health Benefits

It looks out of this world, but a centuries-old health and spa remedy is getting new life in Chicago.

"First time, wow! I was absolutely amazed," said salt spelunker Carol Riehle.

"It transported me to another place," said Amy Souza, who also enjoys the artificial salt caves.

Salt caves, made to look like Polish salt mines, are slowing digging into popularity, NBC5's Kim Vatis reported.

Salt therapy has been practiced in old eastern Europe for hundreds of years because of its purported healing powers to ease respiratory problems. People also say they find the therapy relaxing.

"In Europe, especially in Poland, (there are) so many caves like this already," said Ewa Chwala, who owns Galos Caves in Portage Park, which specializes in salt therapy.

Galos Caves is one of the first businesses to bring the concept to Chicago.

Chwala said clients can enjoy a stopover in a lunch break.

'It will help for your sinuses, for your asthma, for your skin disease," she said.

Chwala said Galos uses natural salt from the sea, which also helps with allergies, high blood pressure and can improve circulation and metabolism.

Riehle said she goes to the salt caves because sometimes she feels like "breathing something different than what's outside; something that's not polluted."

"Just look at it (the walls)," said one man. "You have to be relaxed here, because it's like stalactite."

Moncia Chwala, also with Galos Caves, said customers can feel a difference in about five sessions.

Agnes Judaz, who was born in Poland, takes her children to Galos every time they catch a cold.

"Let's say like a stuffy nose, or coughing, like a regular cold. After three days, it's all gone," Judaz said.

It took Galos six months to import the 20 tons of salt needed to make the cave. Proponents say a 45-minute session is like spending three days at sea.

"(It's) pure salt from the Black Sea," Ewa Chwala said. "They are evaporated for seven years and we make the walls from it."

Monica Chwala said the salt was so special because, "It's the minerals that go into the skin. It's all around you."

Vatis reported that those minerals include calcium, potassium and magnesium.

But Northwestern University allergy and immunology expert Dr. Kris McGrath said most of the evidence that patients feel better after spending time in a salt cave is anecdotal.

"It's an alternative or natural therapy," he said. "It could be given along with standard care."

The business of better breathing has also spun into home products like salt lamps, which are big sellers.

Isabella Samovsky is with Solay Wellness, a retailer that sells such products. She said some users report having fewer headaches or sleeping better.

"It doesn't allow you to be tense," Riehle said.

Keep Your Dog Healthy Naturally

As a dog lover, you want your loyal friend to feel and look good. Your dog's skin and coat perform many functions essential to its health. A healthy coat and skin provides warmth, maintains body temperature, and protects against parasites. Your dog's skin and coat require special care to stay healthy.

Skin and coat problems are very common among dogs. Conditions include: abscesses, odors, eczema, dermatitis, dander, hair loss and seborrhea. Commercial pet shampoos contain artificial additives that can dry your dog's skin. They consist of harsh chemicals and irritants that can either exacerbate a skin problem or contribute to a skin reaction.

To keep your dog's skin and coat in excellent health, a good natural and effective dog shampoo is vital. Natural shampoos do not dry the skin since it retains its natural glycerin. As well, it contains no DEA, phosphates, enzymes, synthetic dyes and chlorine bleaches. The foamy excess is totally safe and will not harm children, the environment, or other living creatures. There are no irritating fragrance oils or itchy detergents. An all-natural enriched shampoo helps relieve itchy, dry, and flaky skin. The coat emerges silky, soft, and emits a beautiful shine. With a tearless formula, it will not irritate your dog’s eyes. Natural dog shampoo is scented with pure, aromatic essential oils so there are no artificial additives and chemicals. These oils remove dog odor without leaving an overpowering perfume residue on your dog. Natural dog shampoo contains a number of ingredients essential for healthy fur and skin.

Jojoba oil - Rich in vitamin E, it is a great moisturizer that replenishes vital nutrients to help keep skin clear, healthy, and bright. Because jojoba oil is so similar in composition to a dog's natural skin oils, it will moisturize and add shine to the fur.

Wheat Germ and Aloe Vera - Recommended by veterinarians to relieve skin irritation, promote healing, and re-moisturize sensitive, dry skin. This shampoo is all natural, soap free, and pH-balanced to clean and deodorize safely and thoroughly. Aloe Vera adds strong anti-fungal properties to this mild, but deep cleansing shampoo. Ideal for washing an animal’s coat, it is used as an alternative to the liquid soap for cleaning infected areas.

Coat Conditioners - Avocado oil, flax seed, vitamins, minerals, proteins, and essential fatty acids ensures your dog's skin and coat are healthy and glowing.

Himalayan Salt – This all natural salt has a strong purifying and re-mineralizing effect. Solay Pets is one company that recognizes the benefits of Himalayan Salt. This natural salt helps to restore healthy skin and glossy coat, improves skin function, and strengthens hair shaft and follicles. As well, it treats dry scaly skin, eczema, relieves itching, and hastens healing of skin lesions and fungal infections of the skin.

Natural Dog Bedding

Many people do not realize that their pet’s bedding can be unhealthy. With chemicals and dyes added to manufactured bedding, your pet’s health may be at risk. Fortunately there are now many types of natural bedding being produced. Organic dog beds are gradually becoming the preferred choice among dog owners because the materials used to make these beds are free of dyes, chemicals, and pesticides. Certain dogs suffer from allergies, while others suffer from respiratory problems. When organic materials are used to make pet beds, it guarantees that even the most sensitive dogs will be able to stay away from allergies and any other ailments caused by pesticides. An organic bed helps your dog sleep more comfortably and breathe easier.

Non Toxic Cleaners

Many common household cleaners contain harsh toxic chemicals that emit toxic pollutants at levels that can lead to health risks for both people and pets. Fortunately, consumer demand for healthier cleaners has lead to a variety of non toxic cleaners. Healthy and environmentally friendly cleaners contain no solvents, caustic chemicals, acids, bleach, and ammonia, so you, your family, and your dog do not have to inhale or come into physical contact with toxic elements.

Dogs are valuable and well-loved members of the family. Just as we do our best to take care of our children, we need to implement safety measures for our faithful furry friends.
